Voter Registration
Here in Illinois, voters can register every day from now through Election Day — there is no “cutoff” deadline on registration. Here is information on how to register and when:
Online Registration:
Now — March 1: Register to vote online at the Illinois Board of Elections website.
March 1: Online voter registration ends — from this date until Election Day (including Election Day), you may register in person at any Early Voting location or your own polling location.
Mail-in Application:
Now — February 17: You may apply via mail-in application (available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Polish, Korean, and Tagalog) before February 17. After this date, you may only apply online.
Voting by mail
The deadline to apply to vote by mail is March 12, 2026 by 5:00pm. Here is some information about voting by mail:
Apply online at the Chicago Board of Elections website or via mail-in application.
You may also sign up to vote by mail permanently here.
Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Election Day (March 17) and arrive by March 31.

Early Voting Info
Here are some important dates about Early Voting (EV) — you may vote at any EV location, regardless of where you live in Chicago, including on Election Day.
February 12: Early Voting (EV) begins every day downtown at the following locations:
Downtown "Supersite" at 137 S State St.
Chicago Board of Elections main office at 69 W Washington St.
March 2: Early Voting begins in all 50 wards, plus the Supersite. Some notes about Early Voting:
You can vote at any EV location, regardless of where you live.
You can register to vote at any EV location.

You can drop off your Mail-in Ballot at any EV site.

Election day is March 17! You can register to vote in person at your polling location or any Early Voting site.

All Early Voting sites are also open on Election Day and you may vote at any of these sites.
You can drop off your mail-in ballots at any Early Voting site or your polling location on Election Day.
